I’ve decided to try some true hiking boots.
I’ve got a pair of Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GTX that I’ve hiked in a few times and they’re great. With that in mind, I read a bunch of reviews and bought a pair of Salomon Quest 4 GTX to use on my first elk hunt this year.
They won’t be good for crossing deep creeks, but many hunters have given great reviews on them for all day hiking comfort and warmth.
Here’s just one outdoors website that ranks these two boots in their top 3.

Site after site has these two boots in their top choices.
