Hopefully Travinski gets healthy enough to hit but Milazzo has locked down the catchers spot for the rest of the season. LSU likely isn’t playing this weekend if Milazzo doesn’t start the last three games. Milazzo’s ability to frame is a big reason the bullpen has pitched so well.

There’s a chance we’d be 2-0 if he started vs wake tbh.

But I digress. Trav is awesome. Wish he was healthy. Could use his bat with the wind the next two days.

They’ve both been immensely key players to our season in different ways. There’s some inherent bias with what I’m going to say here but Travinski has been one of my favorite players if not my favorite player. He enjoys playing and doesn’t take himself too seriously out there.

This completely gets overshadowed. Watching Milazzo the last few games and he is an elite defensive catcher. With the strike zone shrinking, this is a massive nuance of baseball that most “fans” miss out on.

OP sets the timeline that Travinski was injured right as he started struggling at the plate in the Supers. I love Milazzo behind the plate but a healthy Travinski is the better option over Milazzo any day and that is why JJ has had him in the lineup. Milazzo looks absolutely lost when he's batting. It is nice that he can bunt, unlike the rest of the team. However, the opposing teams throw right to him b/c he poses no threat at all. Sometimes we are lucky enough for him to sneak something past the infield. Travinski is a better catcher than people give him credit for and the difference in the production at the plate b/t the two is insane. Trav's OPS is almost DOUBLE that of Milazzo. It would be insane to keep a healthy Travinski on the bench.

If we are going to do hypotheticals... a healthy Travinski in the lineup, allows us to score runs, and these games aren't as close. The result is less gray hair for me.

All that maybe true but Milazzo had to vindicate himself for allowing Wake to have 1st and 3rd when he let the strikeout pitch to go to the wall. He sure as hell DID make a play at the plate courtesy of Tre Morgan's heads up play charging the bunt from 1st. A season altering play it was!
