Lived in TN, MS and AL and never heard of it. Doesn’t mean it didn’t exist but suggests that 1% of the population had any interest in it.

With all due respect there is a lot of stuff you (and I for that matter) haven't heard about but that doesn't lower the significance of it. Suggesting that less than 1% of the population had any interest in it is a bit of a stretch. But I don't blame you or anyone else for lack of knowledge. It wasn't taught in school and in todays times when we do everything to avoid being WOKE it probably never will be.
