re: Who here had a relative that achieved the highest rank in the military?

My dad was the youngest Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard during WW II at 25 years old. He ran the engine room, (a good place to stay warm on an Ice Breaker). They offered to make him an officer and he said no. (He said he'd rather be top of the bottom, than bottom of the top.) LOL
