On contending teams, I agree with you and it’s probably why he opted out. The new CBA is so punishing to teams who go over the cap that once teams have two max players they can’t pay another guy $20 plus million without significant issues. Honestly surprised the players union agreed to this, sure the top guys will make more but you borderline all star/B level players won’t have those large deals they used to get

I posted something similar a few days ago on the Pels talk board. Top guys will still be underpaid, and rookie deals for productive players will still be major +EV, but the mid-tier market is going to be CRUSHED by this new CBA.

they’ll still get deals, but they’ll be more spread around the league. I assume teams still have to hit a salary floor?
