See, I used to think that, remembering a hockey game I went to years and years ago.

I went to another one a few months ago and it was...fine, but I didn't really enjoy it. So many stoppages, atmosphere felt a bit strange/sterile.

Obviously a lot of stoppages in football/basketball too, I just enjoy the atmisphere at these games better. It felt like, at the NHL game I was at, that hockey was a niche sport and I wasn't a part of that niche.

So, I think it really goes by personal preference and no sport is "by far" the best to watch live.

I understand. It's not for everybody. I grew up with college football and college basketball, so I'll always feel like I'm a part of the crowd at those events rather than just a spectator. Assuming you were raised an LSU Tigers fan, the atmosphere at any NHL game won't be comparable to your experience at Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night.
