Never said it was a fun time for him, but it undoubtedly helped his career. Certainly more than being anchored to SNL would have. That’s directly from him on a podcast

huh? I've listened to a lot of MSSP, as well as Gillis on other people's podcasts, and he's said this nearly verbatim
