Car thefts are up nation wide. But, many vehicles can't be recovered because international crime rings steal vehicles in the U.S. and ship them to overseas buyers. Many of the stolen luxury vehicles end up in Mexico or Africa.

Yeah, I guess why pay full price for one when you can steal it in the U.S. and buy it for half price.

It is a common sight to see a caravan of old, beat up school busses with 3-5 fairly new cars on tow bars behind each bus headed toward the border in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona. It will usually be 8-10 buses and 3-5 cars and trucks being towed. I have been told about half are stolen. They make no attempt to hide it if so...you will see these caravans in the middle of the day and night.

There was a story a long ways back about a guy who recognized his old work truck being used by terrorists in Syria

My 2020 Escalade was stolen in April 2020 with my Springfield XD handgun in the valet locked glovebox (had been in there for 10 minutes while I went inside a place that prohibited carry). They told me I would never see my vehicle again because it would be across the border by the next day but I’d likely see my handgun again one day.
Got my gun back 6 months ago.
