IMHO, yes. Making it back to Omaha in your second year as head coach is remarkable. I think this year is a success for the baseball program regardless of the outcome in Omaha.
Yep. The goal at a program like LSU is Omaha. Winning it all is the icing on the cake. But this has def. been a successful year.

The problem is that too many LSU baseball fans are football people by nature and do not understand the realities of baseball. In football, every game is a big deal and anything after 3 losses is an issue. In baseball, even great teams will hit slumps, especially when there are 60+ games on the schedule. Winning championships in baseball is about hoping those slumps happen in the regular season. Even if you have talent, have the proper rotation on the pitching staff and have the batting order right, losing 2 out of 3 is very easy to do in baseball and if it happens in the postseason, you're done.
In the 1909 World Series, Ty Cobb hit .231 and only stole 1 base in a 7-game series. (Cobb was a career .366 hitter and stole 897 bases) I doubt he had such a poor 7 game showing at any other point in his career. But that kind of stuff happens in baseball, sometimes at the worst times. Our fans who are used to 12 game football seasons where just 1 bad game can mean everything being lost don't get that.
Getting to the postseason with a good seeding is what makes a good and successful team. After that, there is a lot of luck that goes with it. So, yes, this has been a successful season.
