Exactly, you are dense. Can't understand that the USA felt threatened by Russia in Cuba and we almost went to war over it. And now NATO next door to Russia makes them feel threatened just like we did.

bullshite! America did not instigate the Cuban crisis because Russia brought Cuba into its orbit. America tolerated that. It was when Russia put nuclear missiles, aimed at the USA, that it became a problem. The Ukraine situation is not like the Cuban missile crisis at all; it is like the Cuba-Russia alliance BEFORE the missiles were brought in - you know, when America did nothing.

What started the Cuban missile crisis is also what ended it.....

quote:

Robert Kennedy then met secretly with Soviet Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Dobrynin, and indicated that the United States was planning to remove the Jupiter missiles from Turkey anyway, and that it would do so soon, but this could not be part of any public resolution of the missile crisis

So we fafo and then had the press haul water for us and make the russians look like they blinked, seems much hasnt changed in 60 years.

All the shite started in 2014 that lead to this inevitable point. At any stage the US could have stopped meddling but they didnt and here we are "sovereign country" and all that jazz (well it is a play after all).

It's still a valid comparison. Maybe Putin was guaranteeing that wouldn't happen by moving in Ukraine.

Imagine if an anti-American organization created by Russia had Canada and Cuba as members and we warned them(for years) we would not tolerate Mexico becoming a member. Then this organization begins talking to Mexico about becoming a member and Russia them helps overthrow the pro American government in Mexico and installs an anti American government, THEN begins helping arm and train their military and build up a sizable army.
Think we would just sit back and do nothing???????

America did instigate the Cuban missile crisis. A little piece of history was hidden for decades. We placed nukes in Trukey and that prompted Russia to put nukes in Cuba.......

quote:

In a separate deal, which remained secret for more than twenty-five years, the United States also agreed to remove its nuclear missiles from Turkey

It was a separate deal "don cha know" we werent backing down from Cuba, nah it was Russia that blinked. My arse, we started it and we backed off. Darn near started a nuclear war just so JFK could look tough, in the end we folded like a cheap suit.

It is the same with Ukraine, we started all this shat and now....well we are up to our arse in shat. All so we could hide the fact we are laundering billions, and continue to do so. It is truly shameful so many lives are being needlessly lost due to the US hubris.

Oh my. What a leap.

First off, Ukraine is not about "orbits". It is about NATO. I assume you know that.

Second, the USSR moving Cuba into the Warsaw Pact would have been wildly provocative. I assume you know that as well.

Third, NATO is a one-for-all, all-for-one, MILITARY, nuclear alliance which has announced openly it is planning to incorporate Ukraine. In 2023, the difference between a NATO aligned Ukraine, and a Ukraine with actual nukes is virtually moot, which renders the argument that "it is like the Cuba-Russia alliance BEFORE the missiles were brought in," a sophism in every sense.
