The acronyms usually apply to children born with intersex conditions or ambiguous genitalia. Not all babies are obviously biologically male or female. Some show outer genitalia different from chromosomal sex. In these cases parents choose the gender they want to raise the child as. It's not anything to do with transgender.

This is not that hard. They are what their chromosomes say they are.

This is just stupid. This is not supposed to be a choice. Their are genetically a male or female with screwed up genitalia. They are not a toy you get to decide will be a boy or a girl based on preference.

Genetic testing is easy now, and should be done in all of those circumstances.

If you are talking about rare cases of XXY, then that is a different story.
