Family, yes. It is also work to stay actively in touch with friends. If you leave and they stay, and you are successful and grow in your career, it's interesting to see how you get treated. Some fall by the wayside because you being successful reminds their wives of their failing to grow their career and take better economic care of the family. So they never call or have time for you when you return. To most REAL friends, though, none of that matters. If it's 10 years before you see them again, it's like you were there with them just a month ago. Real friendships know no time. Same as family. Real friends applaud the decision you made to better your life.

Considering retiring, soon, and while it is somewhat attractive to move back close to family and friends from LA, my wife is from Utah and her parents have offered her land where this is the back of the property:





Of course, winters can be a real bitch, too. But we also like to ski, and Park City is just on the other side of the mountain range, so, it balances out.
