Looking for good restaurants/pubs, anything that’s can’t miss. Itenerary is:
Edinburgh (castle, st andrews, etc) with train to:
Inverness (Isle of Sky tour) with rental car to:
Glencoe (hitting Loch Ness on the way, possibly the famous train aqueduct) drive to:
Glasgow (turn in car and train to London for flight home)

Just got back May 26. Will you golf or no?
Regardless, go eat at The Balgove Steak Barn just outside of St.Andrews. Phenomenal food.
I believe they are open Wed-Sun 6pm to 11pmish for dinner.

End of the World Pub in Edinburgh. Right in the middle of tourist town but the fish and chips was excellent and the history of the place is cool.

All of Scotland is enjoyable. Edinburgh is a terrific city. Old town is a bit like Gatlinburg, lots of t-shirt shops and scotch shops. It's very quaint and interesting, though, and worth a few hours to look around. New town is very nice and has some good restaurants including Dishoom and The Ivy.
Most of Scotland is very easy to get around by train, including that Inverness-Glasgow route you are contemplating driving.
Glasgow is also a nice walkable town but perhaps lacks the charm of Edinburgh.
