There are so many worse things he could be than gay. Is he a good person? Does treat others with respect? Is he a good student? Hard worker? Kind to others?
If my son were gay, I would mourn the dream I had his whole life of watching him get married to a beautiful bride, having a daughter in law, being there for the birth of his child… I would worry about others being cruel to him. My heart would ache with thoughts of painful moments dealing with this.
I would not degrade him by making jokes about him sniffing our underwear or casually dismiss him and his feelings. The world is full of mean people and he will meet his share. I would make sure that our home was a place of love and shelter for him and make sure he knew we loved him no matter what.
A parents love is supposed to be unconditional. You don’t have to like his life, but it is beyond me how you could be so unforgiving in displaying God’s love.
