Dodgers initially caved to that pressure, rescinding the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's invitation to Pride Night. The decision was met with disappointment from local LGBTQ+ groups, which vowed to withdraw from the event unless the team reversed course.
so what? I am still at a loss for why so many corporations give so much importance to what other people think of them. Woudl the Dodgers really take a financial hit to the bottom line if the gays stopped attending or buying their merch?

They were probably under immense pressure from corporate sponsors to reverse their position. Corporate sponsors have to keep their ESG and CEI scores up so institutional lenders will continue to do business with them.
That's what is driving all of this bullshite.
