I've wondered if God loved his earthly children more than his only begotten son. Or, did he understand fully that his only begotten son would bounce back spectacularly. And if so, is said gift really much of a sacrifice.
Of course, I'm just an earthly child and knowing the how and why of these actions are above my pay grade.

This will be a very unpopular opinion, but I don't think that there is anything wrong with saying that we really don't know everything about God's nature or his plans.
Not all of the answers are in the Bible. All of the questions are, though....
