God gave us free will, we were born with free will, and I'm sure you know what that means. Angels had it too, God wants you to love him unconditionally, to choose to love him that's why we have the free will. Either you do love God or you don't, the choice is yours. So, you can say people or human beings choose their own eternal suffering by choosing not to love God and doing the wrong things called sins. You know what sins are, that's why there's a bible to read.

In the end, we all fall short and sin…we might have a choice, but none of us make that choice without the will of God and the help of the Holy Spirit.
