but INFLUENZA was way down by huge margins because everyone had on those stupid masks, so it wasnt spreading to everyone as it normally did.

That's the excuse I heard at the time - never made sense to me - if masks were effective, why weren't they used for decades against the flu.

as a matter of fact, for 2-3 years prior to COVID I had COPD-type coughing episodes. I asked my doctor if a mask would work - (I had plenty of masks that I wore while mowing my lawn during dusty conditions so as to not accentuate my coughing) No doctor ever said that they would have any effect against my getting the flu.

I wore them anyway - knowing I didn't have the flu, but as a courtesy to everyone else in the grocery store when I was out in public = because THEY wouldn't know if I was sick or not.

colds and flu, and they are effective, but not perfect

asians were wearing masks to keep from getting colds and flu for the last 10 years, and it does help a lot to stop the spread and is greatly effective to stop healthy people from getting colds and flu because sick people are hacking and caughing all over you and public areas

im not saying masks help stop covid, but they have lots of evidence they help stop colds and flu from spreading widely throughout the public
