I'm not sure where it comes from either. Granted the structure is such that I don't really care what goes on at other churches, only the one I attend, but it's SBC and none of the things regularly mentioned here are issues. It's still a little backwards on a couple of issues if anything.

That's why I mentioned "inside baseball" (I can't really think of a better term)
People see the internal squabbles where the "right" of the SBC is bickering with the "left" - say like Tom Buck on one side and Griffin Gulledge on the other (neither of which are actually woke), and the more conservative Twitter ones talk about how the SBC is trending towards wokeness and non-SBC folks take that and run with it and here we are.
