Youngsville is kinda odd in that it’s almost all transplants. Not very many people’s pawpaws are from here.

That's because 30 yrs ago, Youngsville was a rural farming community with a population of less than 2,000 people. I've lived here since 1994 as the only attractions in town were the church and Morvant's. Lafayette Parish decided to expand South and Youngsville blew up with houses in sugarcane fields. In 2000, population was roughly 4,000 people (Copperfield and Fieldcrest subdivisions). Today it's pushing 20,000 people with SMP, new HS, and countless subdivisions. Absolutely insane as traffic and flooding are serious concerns. I'd compare Youngsville to Kenner's 30-year growth from the 1950's (pop. 5,000) to 1980 (pop. 65,000). Jefferson Parish expanded West with the MSY Airport, race track, and subdivisions were being built on swampland.
