That's because most evangelicals and fundamentalists are unfamiliar with church history, church fathers, doctrinal development, etc.

I know several pastors that interpret all of scripture through the lense of their pre-trib pre-mil rapture view of Revelation. That kind of preaching sells almost as well as the prosperity gospel.
