Orlando- would not do well. Too many transplants while larger areas like Tampa and Miami are doing poorly.

Nashville- tough to get the right coating Braves fans, but good economic area and should have no problem with sponsors and attendance.

Charlotte- similar to Nashville but I think they would be better. The AAA team in Charlotte always leads the league in attendance.

Austin- if it came to Austin, it may be better to put it in South Austin so the San Antonio crowd could also contribute. Lots of astros fans after their success would make it tough.

Louisville- probably wouldn’t dare any better than Cincy or Cleveland. Not high on this one.

New Orleans- no chance. They didn’t support the zephyrs/baby cakes and suck at supporting the Pels too. Plus the area has gone to shite and population is declining. Not a good choice here.

Pat Williams who was the first owner of the Magic is pushing for a $1.7 billion stadium in Orlando. MLB is planning to expand (2 teams) by the end of the decade. Salt Lake City and Nashville are the favorites.

quote:

The ‘Dreamers’ is the moniker for the Orlando baseball franchise.

Williams and his group conducted a study for his pitch. The stadium would seat 45,000 and the group plans to build 1,000 hotel rooms next to it. This would create 20,000 jobs and have an annual economic impact of $1.2 billion for the region.

The pitch for an Orlando-based team is particularly interesting as the state of Florida is already home to two MLB franchises who have both struggled. The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins have had two of the lowest attendances in the league over the last several years.
