So essentially it does what a little self control would also do?

People with normal hormone function do not know what it is like to never be satiated with a meal. I am diabetic as a result of sever pancreatitis and ever since then I had eaten more and more. Your cells are smart enough to know they need glucose but are too dumb to know you are not making enough insulin to store all the glucose that is already in your blood in your cells so they secrete hormones to tell your body to eat. IT SUCKS.

We went out for lunch today. I ate half my baked potato, half my 12oz steak, half of my green beans and a piece of bread. Before I would have eaten a full 16oz steak, the entire potato, still all the green beans and probably enough bread for a family of 4 because I just wouldn't feel full, EVER.

My doctor put me on Ozempic to try to get my A1C to the new goals (which is 5.7 now...) and I have been hoovering around 7. I also get to take less insulin less often reducing the amount of shots by A LOT. Losing a few pounds is just an extra side effect, the biggest improvement is quality of life in not being hungry all the time. I don't snack anymore, ever and I use to get 3 solid snacks in, one after each breakfast, lunch and dinner. It wasn't lack of self control, it was my body producing hormones to MAKE ME EAT.

It wasn’t self control, your hormones just made your legs stand up and walk your arse to the kitchen to get a snack

Count your calories, and don’t budge on your calorie budget. After a while your body will get used to eating less. If you get a craving, but don’t want to blow your budget drink water or black coffee.

Or, just blame your hormones and take a medication to solve your issue

No, your body said it was hungry. You let it eat.
It's ok to be hungry.
