Also the last time we took a player that didn't fit our scheme was Zach Baun, and it's been a failure trying to get him to play a position he's not good at.

Precisely. It's the family of 4 buying a two seater sports car because it goes fast and looks good. Nothing inherently wrong with that car but it'll likely stay parked in the garage because it doesn't fit what you need.
