I guess this post can apply to Paul Skenes as well, should they decide they need to draft a hoss pitcher.

which one projects better? Honest question.
Yes, my perceptions are colored by the fact that I really don't watch much MLB anymore, so I'm going on older ideas. I don't know much about all the 'newer' stats, I just look at average, wins, strikeouts, HRs etc. I don't know what a good OBP or stuff like that is, at a deep level.

Skenes has been dominant here, an has an elite fastball... but he also seems to be a bit of a one-trick pony. I haven't seen him destroy anyone with a different pitch, just overmatch guys with the 100 mph fastball. And he also doesn't seem to get beyond the 6th or 7th inning.
Now, the pitch count is probably a good thing for him, and his velocity doesn't drop. He probably could go further. But MLB batters can hit that fastball, if there's nothing else to worry about.

Crews, kinda an enigma. I thought he'd be more of a slugger with an average in the mid-lower 300%, not chasing .500% with a ton of walks. And it does seem like he can turn on the power if he wants. I think his average might be a big deal, because it seems like he's good enough to do either approach in the big leagues. He COULD become your cleanup hitter, or he could be what he is this year, the plate setter for another guy.

Since you asked… I would draft Skenes. But I love a big strong righty that can flick 99 like he’s throwing bp. And if he gets hurt.. try him out as a hitter haha. Never know.

Crews could very well be the next big thing, likely is. But dominant starting pitching can overcome a lot of flaws for a team.

His breaking stuff has looked filthy to me.

When you are striking out 12-13 a game you run up your pitch count, that is pretty self explanatory.

He has been throwing some really nasty off speed.

huh, he is as complete of a ball player that you will see in a college uniform, he is projectable in any outfield slot you can imagine, will be around. .300, power numbers will project to be a 30-40 HR guy in year 2 or so. Just a prototype.

He will be two hole guy in quick order.

He’s solely getting breaking balls low and outside of the plate for a reason. The reason being if he gets any fastball anywhere close to his hitting zone, it is annihilated ala Saturday against Ole Miss. He has tons of power.
