I'll put your finger on it. There is almost no way I can see that Dominion could show 700 million in damages. Did they lose any business as a result of this? AFAIK they are still an operating going concern.

And that wouldn't matter. Quoting someone who is lying isn't slander. The liability falls to those making the claim, not those repeating them. Hence "according to people familiar with the matter" is the NYT's favorite phrase.
