Property tax complaining is getting very old... My property taxes are half what Id pay in income tax in another state. Im considering a move so have done all the calculations.

Exactly. My property tax has gone up but

-so has my property value
-my kids can walk to a top rated elementary school
-there are three amazing, clean parks in our neighborhood to use
-really nice pool and splash pad
-low crime
-I’ve gotten raises at work and not taxed any extra on them

the best part? if I want to lower your property tax burden, I can move to a cheaper house.

In income tax states you wouldn’t lower your burden by taking less income, you are penalized for success with no added value to you

ETA: I will admit property taxes aren’t perfect, it does suck for older fixed income folks who have houses paid off and don’t want to move and the area around them raises value and their taxes increase. It’s not fair, but again at least they then have appreciation in their property.

It’s renters who really get screwed, their rent rises without getting the value out while the landlord does
