You actually need to stay awake the entire flight from TPE

That's just not possible. As much as I would like that to happen it's not realistic.

Disneyland is happening but not until two days after we land, the Angels game wouldn't be planned in advance only an option if we feel up for it.

If you sleep for six hours on the flight from TPE to LAX, you're sleeping from approximately 10AM (allowing for food service) to 4PM LAX time. You *won't be able to sleep* unless you get blackout drunk once you hit LAX.

I don't think we will get 6 hours even if we tried but my goal would be get whatever sleep we could within the first 6 hours. Our bodies won't be acclimated to Pacific yet so it will still "feel like" 2 or 3 am.

It would be ideal to land at LAX at 9pm and be close to go to sleep but I know without investing the time during our vacation to shift our sleep schedules it's not going to happen.

At some point we're going to need to sleep during the travel, the question is when and for how long?

If you're going to try your strategy, which is the opposite of how I operate, you need to create financial incentives for you to attempt to wake up for your phone alarms. Pay for tickets and passes now, and that might burn through the "ten more minutes" which turns into five more hours of sleep after you land in LAX.

I have no clue what this means.

Done it repeatedly in both directions. However, you shall do what you think is good for you. That's your choice.

It's simply a penalty for not waking up. "I bought $300 worth of Disney tickets and we're going to lose the money if I hit snooze again." Maybe it'll motivate you, maybe it won't. But if you're just "we're going to Disney tomorrow," not a great likelihood you're making breakfast after a trip like that.

need to sleep during the trave

My main point is that everyone needs to pass the hell out as soon as you hit the hotel in LA, and wake up before 9-10AM for the lag not to ruin the next four days of y'alls lives.
