The foul lines were kind of short, but there was plenty of room in the gaps for triples and potential inside-the-park home runs.”

He added, “The tournament was a showcase for the teams and the players. You wouldn’t believe how many baseball coaches around the country lobbied me over the years to get their team a spot in the tournament.”
