“Going through practice” to them means doing absolutely everything with the team at full speed, he was more than likely just doing whatever he is able to do with his trainers/coaches and can’t go full speed until he’s officially cleared to do so

Hope you’re right, but that’s super annoying if we operate that way. Shaq, Barkley, Moses Malone, etc. Dudes were often out of shape after injury or to start the season, but they did everything the team did just at a half arse pace and contributed where they could until they gradually got in shape.

Can’t the dude contribute, even if out of shape?

I don’t understand this narrative of “he must be more out of shape than they expected.” Do people not realize that he is working with Aaron Nelson directly every single day? He is under the care and direction of the entire Pels training staff multiple times daily. This is absolutely ridiculous. This is an organization problem and I’m sick of it.

I think back then guys had more leeway to make their own decision on what they could do. Now everything is entirely in control of the medical staff. Even if he wanted to go out there and half arse it just to be out there and help the team, the medical staff wouldn't let him
