Substack - Patriot Act on Steroids
quote:

The Senate legislation currently has 19 cosponsors, all of whom are Uniparty members in good standing. It is fully “bipartisan,” consisting of 9 democrats and 10 republicans.

quote:

The RESTRICT Act goes far, far beyond potentially banning TikTok. It gives the government virtual unchecked authority over the U.S. communications infrastructure. The incredibly broad language includes the ability to “enforce any mitigation measure to address any risk” to “national security” today and in any “potential future transaction.”

I read about this yesterday. I hope it fails, but people have to bitch about it so they can't just slip it under the table.

The language is so vague, it's hard to imagine anything digital not being subject to its authority.

They seek control. They already tried buying it, now they want to take it under threat of force.

It will pass.

At this point, I do not trust anything our government attempts to push that is in "our best interest"... So, I would be a hard NO on this one...

I'm not a fan of TikTok by a long shot. I refuse to install it on any device I own. However, those who post videos on TikTok have not been subject to partisan censorship like we saw happen on FB, IG, Twitter, Youtube, and other platforms. I'm not so sure that this isn't our gov't falsely painting the app as a threat so that they can garner support for a backdoor method of government censorship and infringing upon First Amendment rights by getting rid of it.

I can't say that my fear can be fully supported, but I've grown a bit suspicious of just about any move the federal government makes at this time. Every single action taken by our government since Jan 20, 2021 has been detrimental to our nation and the liberties of our citizens.

Every. Single. Time.

They will just rebrand it and pass it under some other name. Just like how they passed build back better by just calling it the inflation reduction act. There is no fixing this government. It must be systematically disassembled.

We have to stand up and push back on our GOP officials. This is worse than Patriot act. We are being distracted with the shooting, Ukraine, banks and they will pass this crap.
They looked nice and tough when the Tik Tok CEO was being questioned and this bill sounds great on the surface. This is way beyond Tik Tok.
If you want to ban Tik Tok, just ban it, but why add all the other power grabbing stuff. Smoke and Mirrors. This is not good that our GOP is going along with this bill.

You still have faith in the GOP? I pity you.
