It's not. It's just additional information on how to interact with them.

Neurodivergent people tend to have different reactions to things than regular people do. Often, they can have serious difficulty reading social cues. That doesn't mean they can't be productive in a work place. In fact, they might actually be perfectly suited to some jobs, but communicating with them may require some practice, attention, and a little trial and error. Some have weird social anxieties. Some actually function really well with others and just need a little different direction. Some are perfect for monotonous extremely detailed work by themselves. It varies person to person.

I grew up with some pretty serious undiagnosed tendencies like that, but over time, in part because I had no diagnoses or medications to rely on, I learned to be a mimic and mask my symptoms. I learned how to not appear weird on the surface or to fake understanding. The reality was that I would have actually functioned far better with some professional guidance, but I managed to adapt reasonably well without it through sheer will and weaponized autism.

I literally learned social cues, group dynamics, flirting, and how to form friendships, heck, how to interact with other humans in general, through mimicing characters on tv. I literally had to use fiction in order to understand people, seeing events in their lives through the lens of plot and story. It was the only way that I was able to make sense of any of it as a teen. Finally, I was able to join a community college study group where we acted out tropes from tv and movies, occasionally experiencing real character development when there wasn't a gas leak.

Needless to say, it got me through, but I was weird AF. Now, I actually live a "sitcom" life. I have a home that I share with one of my best friends, and I have a close group of friends that constantly gather at my place and goof off and go on adventures. I basically took the fiction that I used to orient my life as a kid and somehow managed to make it my life. It's actually kinda great, just wish my career/financial situation was a little better. Manhattan apartments large enough to hold a live studio audience don't come cheap.
