China is screwed from a demographic, energy and food supply perspective. They are trying to solve their energy and food supply issues with Russia, Saudis and India (and surrounding nations) respectively. Their demographic problem cannot be solved. Their one child policy will hurt them pretty badly. China will be just a bunch of old people.

We'll go with your analysis.....I feel more confident we have little to fear from an ascending China.

Their population is expected to decrease by half over the next 30 years. It remains to be seen how much of an economic impact that has though since most will be retirees who are, economically speaking, dead weight. China's biggest issue is going to be our slow divestment of their economy. We're already moving manufacturing from China to Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, The Philippines, etc. Without our market, China is screwed.
