As a Freshman - yes he was. Kenny Anderson dropped 26, Dennis Scott (also HS Player of the Year) dropped 30, Shaq had 19, Mahmoud had 13 and fouled out. Excuses aside, Anderson outplayed Mahmoud and Shaquille. Close game, but Georgia Tech had a great team with equal if not better talent top to bottom.

Bobby Cremins was one of the top recruiters of that era (Scott, Anderson, Travis Best, Stephon Marbury).

You’re all over the place jumping from HS accolades to single game stats while excluding other players. This narrative that they had as much talent as us is silly. They had 2 guys, Brian Oliver and Malcom Mackey were Geert Hammink level players who weren’t even drafted as high as the Dutchman.
