A lot depends on how much you want to spend. Having said that, I think that these are good whiskey choices for reasonable price: Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, and Gentleman Jack. There's probably a good chance that the snob will turn their nose up at Gentleman Jack just because it's from the same company that makes Jack Daniels.
