Portland is great to visit. I wouldn't want to move there but its great to visit.
Salt and Straw Ice Cream is amazing.
As mentioned, they have great breweries.
The food carts are awesome and pretty cheap.
Multnomah falls area does reservations in the summer so find out before you go. Driving down that valley is pretty.
Mt Hood area is beautiful.
The coast is in the other direction and equally impressive.
It will be wild for you to see all the tents and junkies everywhere. The city itself is something else with all that. There are homeless encampments everywhere. You aren't moving there so it is interesting to see.
