Just as stupid as the city of Asheville spending a million or so on a reparations study. The census of 1860 showed just 820 men, women and children living in Asheville.

Let's say 20 percent owned slaves, that's about 170 slaves, if that many since Asheville was primarily a trading post until after the war.

As others have pointed out, CA owes Asians, primarily Chinese, for their enslavement in the 1800s.
