The nostalgia and pull of the music will make this a success, at least on the opening weekend. I think the wokesters will show up in droves to virtue signal and that will cancel out the #notmyariel folks who are Little Mermaids fans but refuse to see this version.

I don't see it having legs, pardon the pun. It will have a massive drop the second weekend and be forgotten about quickly, which will be a blessing.

I find this so divisive. Not only the race swap, but also changed her iconic fire red hair to brown with a slight red tint. And gave her dreads on top of that.

Disney has gone so far down the woke rabbit hole that I cant see them coming out of it. They seem to delight in provoking a response from fans of the original material.

I dont see them reversing course.

It's gone beyond virtue signaling to down right antagonizing fans.

hell, in the Peter Pan trailer there as a scene where the Darling Boys are in the nursery and looking to who must be Peter and the youngest says, "Peter Pan?!?"

And then a kid that looks like The Little Drummer Boy from the old Rankin-Bass Christmas Special says, "Were you expecting someone else?"

FYI...Peter Pan.

Yeah...they were expecting PETER PAN!

This is the part that does bother me. Im fine with her having dreads. But I would have much preferred if they gave her that fire red color. I get the feel they wanted a more natural realistic color, but I don't think that was a good idea.
