I’m taking LIRR from Jamaica station to Penn Station.
Does a $33 unlimited MTA card purchase include exiting Jamaica station?

I think it should.
It’s a little confusing at first but if you study it enough you will be ok. I was determined to use the subway when I went in July and survived by checking the app and the web a bunch.

I understand the system, we were just there three months ago. I’m just wondering if I need to purchase a “Jamaica Station Exit” ($5 or so), and a $33 unlimited rides, or does the unlimited ride card cover the Jamaica station exit.

You have to pay separately, we just got back last week, it is $8. there are plenty of machines to do that right before the exit. There is also a newstand across from it that will sell you the $33 weekly unlimited pass.
You will have to pay that $8 again when you go back to airtran on your flight home.
