Go do a comparison of his and Max Johnson's HS completion percentages and you'll know why he's ranked where he is. That appears to be the hangup. Shorts/t shirt-stud. Pads/tackling/gameplans-not so much. He's younger than most, if not all, his class peers so his development isn't over but you'd think such a reportedly highly trained QB could complete more than 55% of his passes. I like the kid but do think our staff completely abandoning the true '24 kids by taking him this early is a mistake. They better hope he flourishes or someone else does to make his take inconsequential. As always around here, trust the coaches.

Didn’t he win a state championship in Florida as a freshman?

There was a guy, I think on On3, that did a real long extensive breakdown on Hurley after he committed. I wish I could find that post now, but it was incredibly informative. I think the guy was an Alumni member of the school, or maybe had just been in the area for a long time, something like that. But he basically just talked about how Hurley's teammates aren't necessarily the best.

I remember he talked about the OL, and it's pretty evidently true because if you go watch highlights he has to leave the pocket nearly every throw. He also talked about how Hurley was taught to never run and always keep his eyes down field. I think he talked about an amazingly high drop percentage from the receivers, etc etc.

Point being, this guy seemed to believe (and did a good job supporting it) a lot of Hurley's numbers were a product of the team, and not Hurley himself. He said once Hurley got into camps he would perform well, and that certainly seems to be the case.
