He’s not getting many fastballs. I’m not saying don’t replace him but if you’re gonna play him you have to protect him so that he gets a steady diet of fastballs on the plate

Pretty sure his first k was two FBs in the zone after he just whiffed on a first pitch breaking ball.

He’s not being pitched around - teams just know he’s a free swinger so they’re going to go off speed early and he’ll reliably chase.

Didn’t hear his first AB in the car but saw his second and he struck out on a 78mph change after fouling some pitches off. He was doing some damage on FBs in the middle of the order early on when he had some dangerous hitters behind him like Thompson and Jobert. He is a free swinger so if you’re gonna have him in there you have to influence pitchers to throw him strikes with protection behind him.

Some of you don’t see the big picture here. It ain’t all about the best offensive line up. It’s about learning about the team, defense, bench , pitching staff, injuries and the management of it all for the long haul. I’d mess around with a couple of players to see if they can turn it around when I have a cupcake schedule.

Lower level pitching is an understatement. Outside of a couple of games JUCO has better pitching than we have seen. Jones has way too many strikeouts for the level of pitching he has seen.

He’s still batting .300. It is disconcerting though. Right now he’s addicted to HRs. Line drive base hits are all that’s needed. He’s just not recognizing the pitches. He’s just a baby. He’ll be fine.

Expect he’ll start tomorrow. And it’s Cade.

It’s in his head now. Coach sit him down for a couple of games

Bump--just to show how dumb people can be and how clueless they are about baseball, coaching, and strategy.

"Sit him a couple games" is the Rantard "go-to" when a player struggles for a few games. And it makes it easy to weed out the people who know nothing about baseball, yet feel compelled to chime in.

Turns out, the coach sees what a talent Jones is and made the proper decision to not "sit him down for a couple games", but instead leave him in the lineup and let him swing his way out of it while the schedule is light.

Once again: coach >>> Rantard
