I grew up on that government food. You used to have to go to a “food pantry” and could only get certain items. People bitched, so they started doing the cards but had to buy unprepared foods. People bitched some more, so now they allow just about anything in the store. Will not be surprised if we see fast food restaurants accepting food stamps in our lifetime
