No one will give a shite, but yes, this is what happened. Rain was expected and thunder and lightning along with it. However, some stray lightning made its way towards the ballpark before the expected rain made it there. At first, it was expected to be a 30 minute delay. But then the lightning kept popping and eventually the rain joined in.

I was listening to the game on radio. It was raining before the game was stopped.
So, yes, the game wasn't stopped because of rain but it was raining when the game was stopped, so the field should have been tarped.
