No they don't. That is the little fine print in your policy. The life ins is voided and will not pay out if you off yourself.

Depends on the policy. Some policies will pay if suicide occurs a certain number of years after purchase.

Happened with someone I know about a year ago. Wife got the proceeds.

That’s simply not true. There’s usually a 2 year elimination period, after that they pay even if suicide.

Edit to say that we have a tremendous number of insurance salesman posters. Can we get a ruling on this?

You’re incorrect. Most policies will offer benefits to the beneficiaries if you off yourself after 2 calendar years.
