The fact that these numbers are even close is kinda ridiculous though.
Gun deaths are around 31k a year, and cars are around 35-40k a year.

True but about half of those gun deaths are suicide. Regardless there's still a ton of gun violence here.

Gun deaths were 45,222 in 2020. Car related deaths were 38,824. Most gun deaths (over half) were by suicide. Gun number only includes deaths where gunshot was listed as sole cause, whatever that means.
