Makes a lot of sense if that's the direction JJ is going with Hurd. Still can't wrap my head around Cooper over Floyd. Maybe just wants a change of velocity between the two power starters?

I dont get Cooper over Floyd either but Floyd probably starts next weekend over Cooper.

Think Jay basically wants to start like 6 different pitchers before conference play and let things play out.

I think that's exactly it. He knows he's got depth. Why not exercise that depth while the stakes are low?

Also, we're going to have less innings to tinker around with over the course of the season due to the lame frickin' mercy rule nonsense.

Maybe some trickery. Throw Cooper the first inning then bring in Floyd? It's an interesting decision to go with Cooper for multiple innings over Floyd.

And my guess to those 6 would probably be Skenes, Floyd, Hurd, Cooper, Collins and Shores.

Taylor would have made 7.

Then they find their Top 3 + 1 from that group and closer.
