Yes, DB overachieved a few times in his 28 years at LSU, but you can count them all using one hand. I remember Bobby Knight saying something like “I was worried that we were going to lose the game, then I looked over at Dale Brown and stopped worrying “

The guy made like 12 straight NCAA tournaments; he likely wins a Final 4 if his best player doesn’t break his thumb in 1981. Tell me which team besides the 1989-90 team significantly underachieved; I’ll wait for your answer. No doubt 1986 and 1987 significantly overachieved. Between 1979 and 1987 LSU was eliminated by the eventual national champion five times in the NCAA tournament. Look at any other period of LSU basketball and find anything resembling even close to that kind of success.
