I've seen numerous post that say Lee lost us the game. I've defended Lee all year, but I can't defend him this week, he played terrible. That being said, if Jared Mitchell makes the catch we win. If Colt David Makes the Field Goal we win. Most of you want to tear down an 18 or 19 or year old kid when you couldn't start for a jv or a flag football team. You say it's your right to boo because you pay this money, Jarrett doesn't get a cut of that. You do pay a lot of money, and you should expect something for that, just not from Jarrett Lee. Imagine what that kid is going through, not only does he have to hear 93,000 people boo him, but he has to go to class on Monday and hear people rag him. Hell, I hated to go to class any way. People need to realize this guy is just a kid. He never made any promises to any of y'all. Think back to when you were 20, I don't know too many kids that could handle that kind of pressure. The kid came here because apparently he loved LSU, lets support the guy and hope he gets better.

Let's support whoever LSU's QB is, whether it be Hatch, Lee, or Jefferson.

You know I think back to when I was in 5th grade and I looked up to all these guys who were great players, but they were 16 and 17 at the time. They are legends to a 10 year old, but when you become 17 you realize that they were just kids.

great post, glad to know that some people realize it is ridiculous to boo your own teams quarterback, regardless of the play.

and we were behind by 7 points at the time, at best the game is tied...not a "game winner"

Hackneyed reasoning. We're not the ones getting a free education in exchange for playing football. God, I hate dumb assholes who make that tired, old argument.

quote:

You say it's your right to boo because you pay this money,

No, I don't and have not boo'ed.

quote:

Jarrett doesn't get a cut of that

Actually, he does, by way of his free education.

quote:

not only does he have to hear 93,000 people boo him

I'm POSITIVE all 93k didn't boo him. Don't be dramtic.

quote:

Hell, I hated to go to class any way

Of this, I am certain.

quote:

Yes, I could, actually, and college football is full of 20 year olds who can as well.

That's exactly right. I hope he develops and shuts up every detractor, but he clearly isn't there yet and criticism is warranted. Without it, he would have no motivations to improve.

It's cold, but coddling the guy and remaining silent won't help him at all. Quite the opposite.

not a game winner, but didn't we drive down and score a touchdown after that miss? My point is that there were several plays in the game that could have made a difference. If Patrick makes that interception on alabamas 40 or so, we have a short field. He made a good play, but instead of having it on their forty, we get it on our 15. Little things in a football game make a big difference. That's why it's a game of inches. Again, I know Lee played his worst game Saturday, I'm just saying there were opportunities to pick him up

Sorry, tell me who was the guy that dropped a sure touchdown. It sure wasn'nt Tolliver. Maybe I need to update my roster but someone other than Lafell, Byrd, and Tolliver dropped a touchdown.

Hey look I respect your opinion. I don't know about you but I received an academic scholarship. No one was cheering me on, no one expected for me to cure cancer, as long as I kept my grades up it was fine. No one booed me when I didn't make an A. No one followed me in the bars at night to see why I wasn't on the deans list. Cut the dude some slack. I appreciate it if you expect more of yourself, I'm just saying the kid never signed a contract with you, he never promised you anything. If you want to be mad with anyone, be mad with the person who recruited him.

I'm not mad at him or anyone else. He played very poorly and I have a right to critique his play. It doesn't mean I think he should transfer or die. It's just a purely analytical response. If he plays "mediocre" ball, we win, but he scked, and I have a right to say he sucked.

But like you (apparently), I hope he improves and kicks arse. I would like nothing better, but I think slamming him helps. I really do. If everyone was nothing but positive and supportive, he would have no pressure to improve, and true competitors need pressure, IMO.

Here's to hoping he responds well.

I really appreciate your response, but I can promise you some kids respond to encouragement while others respond to a challenge. I don't have a stake in either kid, but they are both freshman. I agree with you other posts, Lee is not very fast. I was all for bringing in Jefferson to run the option. Hell, Lee ran it for no threat of running twice and gained positive yards. I know mostly we are all on the same side, I know everyone is frustrated, but I think the kid has talent and can develop if we as fans don't tear down what little confidence he has left

appreciate the correction, I guess I lump those guys together. I still wish Tolliver was the 3rd guy, but what do I know

Lee's problem is getting hit. He is afraid. His quick releases are self explanatory.

The fans were VERY tolerant of him last Sat. Not many boos at all.

Most things I have read have not been "tearing him down", rather they are stating the case for the kid who had his RS removed........
