Al Jones, the father of LSU greats Chad Jones and Rahim Alem, talks about their respective careers at LSU. It is coming from an interesting perspective as he is not only their father but he also coached them in high school as well.

I met Chad at City Park in Nola a couple years ago. He was playing tennis with his wife and kids. My daughter and I introduced ourselves and he took time to chat with us and introduce his daughters to mine.

Count me as a huge fan, he was supremely nice. Also he swatted tennis balls like a pro. Dude is just gifted.

One of my favorite memories of him is watching him pitch in person in 2009 against Texas. He was in a zone by the end of the year. What an athlete.

As a sophomore in HS, we were beating up on Aug pretty good, so I got in for a few plays at WR. One of the plays was a crack block on then Al Jones. At 140 lbs, at best, I bounced off of him like fly on a window.

Anyway, IMO Chad having a significant role in both national championships puts him right up there with any of the all time Tigers greats. What an unbelievable athlete.

His dad used to workout at Anytime Fitness in Nola. I would talk to him all the time. Same deal, very friendly.

I met him right after Chad got in that bad accident.

Hardly surprising. You can tell they had a solid foundation.

I would put Chad up there with any athletes that came through LSU, regardless of sport.

This guy Lee is so awkward.

Keeps touching Al every other time he speaks.

He doesn’t allow the his guests to speak. I feel like he talk 80 % of the time.
