Replacing terrible players with non terrible players makes a big difference for making the playoffs. It's not going to be nearly as helpful in the playoffs where teams scheme to take away your bread and butter and dare the role players to win games for you.
We also can't forget that the Lakers are 25-31. If you need to go .500 to get the 10 seed, which is a fair guess, they have to go 16-10 the rest of the way just to make the play in.
They might go 16-10, but no one in their right mind would beat straight up that they will. They're fighting an uphill battle.

I think the lakers biggest improvements may come just from losing the personalities of Beverly and Westbrook.
Talent wise though, the only improvement is Vanderbilt. I think Westbrick and Russell are a wash and Bamba is a downgrade to Bryant. Beasley upgrades offense but downgrades defense.
